Triangular Crochet Shawl

My sister Bandana taught me this crochet triangular shawl. The project was really a easy one! Bandana made quite a number of such shawls in different beautiful colours. I made mine with a neutral grey so that I can use it with any dress I wear. Here's a picture:
Hope to use it next winter!

Crochet Bag

I made this crochet bag by joining a few granny squares. As I was looking for a few designs for my granny square I came across these African Flower Granny Crochet on you tube and that is where I learnt it from.

I made 13 such squares and arranged them in the following pattern:

and thereafter joined them to form the bag:

I made two strong handles and affixed them with the bag:

At last a zipper was fixed with the bag and lined with a matching piece of cloth to make it more useable and durable. Will carry this bag to my workplace tomorrow and I hope my friends like it! Bye for now!

Crochet Teddy Bear

My sister Vandana brought me several craft , knit and crochet items and books from U.K. Delighted as I was to receive the bundle of gifts that she gave me , I was spoilt for choice. What should I make first? Should I start with the coin purse kit? Or should I start knitting with the colourful yarns from the knit kit ? Knitted Toys? Or should I crochet something with my new crochet hook set? At last I decided to try out an Amigurami Teddy Bear from the book "Adorable Toys" that she gave me.

This was my very first attempt at crocheting a toy .I had knitted several toys before but had never crocheted any. But I found the directions pretty easy to follow and weaved up the teddy very comfortably.  There is much room for improvement though. Sure it will turn out better, fatter and sweeter  in my next attempts. Will now try out the Crochet Koala and a knitted doll  from the book.

My holidays are on.So hoping to meet sooner this time..It's a festive season in India and I wish happiness to everyone. Moushumi.

Crochet Bag ( Crocodile Stitch)

For a couple of days I had been thinking about how to use up all the extra yarn that has piled up . Thought about several stuff but the projects did not quite excite me. Then I came across this u tube video on crocodile stitch bag. So I felt like trying this out . I used one color for each row and thus could use up at least some of the extra yarn that I had. I hope you like the bag although I am not very sure about its color combination. Well I will make another one later this time with a couple of sober colors. For now here is the picture:

Till our next post, wishing all lots of happiness! Moushumi

Knits and crochets for Gia

I have a little grand daughter and all my projects now revolve round her. I keep knitting frocks, jumpers and sweaters for this little one. Recently I knitted a top for her in raspberry stitch. I personally collected the yarn and the buttons of my choice:
I also crocheted a little baby beanie cap for her:

Right now I am knitting her a hairband and she is loving it already!

Crochet bag

I always wanted to make a crochet bag joining a few granny squares. As I was looking for some designs for the squares I came across a "Crochet African Flower Granny square" design on you tube. I followed the instructions to create the following Granny square:

I had to crochet 13 such squares to form the bag which I made. Larger the bag more the number of squares.Well then the squares were arranged in a pattern to form a bag:

Next part was to join the squares . I used the crochet hook itself to join the squares ,though one can use the needle too.

This part was followed by the handle . I crochet a strong handle and affixed it with the bag. The final part was to line the bag with some matching cloth and sew a zipper.

I shall carry the bag to my workplace tomorrow and I really hope my friends and colleagues will like it!
